On the occasion of “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty”, the school, with the support of some student leaders, the Departments of Religious Education and Social Work, made some activities to sensitize our community about the great challenge that we have as a country to achieve the disappearance of poverty.  To create awareness on this issue, we designed some activities:

• Familiarization concepts and values for the whole school, through assemblies sections flag-raising.
• On October 25th was held a day of reflection with a special lunch at the primary and secondary school students, and employees, where we had a lunch according to the distribution of monetary income in our country, in the same proportions:

3% high class menu

55% middle class menu

42% underclass – poverty or extreme poverty menu

The money that the nutrition service of the school saved on this day was sent to La Cigarra Foundation, (day-care for displaced children in poor neighbourhood in Bogotá) with which a special lunch was provided to children.

In this way, we hope symbolically closer to the needs and privileges that exist in our Colombian population.
