On the 22nd of September in the section entitled ‘Mi Zona,’ the newspaper, El Tiempo published that the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá was giving its backing to our school to represent Bogotá in the 43rd National Competition of Musical Bands in Paipa.
From the 28th September to the 1st October our band with 45 students from fourth to eleventh grade, will compete in the most important national competition of symphonic bands in Colombia.
The jury will be made up of the conductor Miguel Angel Casas; the composer Victoriano Valencia and Juan Fernando Avendaño the first Trumpet of the National Symphonic Orchestra. This jury declared that our trumpet players were the best in the competition. The players are as follows: Sofia Castaño, Mauricio Bacca, Juan Diego Coronado, Santiago Hurtado and Jose David Olarte.
We congratulate our students who have consistently been praised over the last few years and have made our Symphonic Band prominent in Bogotá.
A special mention for our teachers Omar Cifuentes, Yezid Barbosa, Edgar Hurtado, Juan Sebastian Cortes and Julian Vasquez for their commitment and achievements.
